The holiday weekend has gotten off to a gorgeous start here on Long Island. With this weekend being the official kick-off of our summer and beach-going, BBQ-eating time of year, please take time out to remember the true meaning behind the Memorial Day holiday.

Many towns here on Long Island host Memorial Day parades to honor our soldiers, past and present. If your town's one of those, be sure to take a little time out -- grab a cup of coffee and a lawn chair -- to join your neighbors to honor those who have and continue to serve our country.
